Over the past year, I have learned a great deal about myself. I've discovered that I can change, and I possess the tools to help me achieve this. One of the most valuable tools for keeping me motivated and elevating my vibration towards positivity is the art of gratitude, also known as appreciation. Whenever things aren't going well in life, or I'm feeling low, practicing gratitude helps me realign with my desired state. Appreciating where I am, how far I've come, and who I am today all contribute to maintaining a positive vibration, which in turn helps me move forward and make the most out of my life. As William Ward once said, "Happiness is an inside job." You could have all the wealth, the best relationships, and a healthy body, but still feel low and unhappy. Our thoughts create our feelings, which then drive our emotions, ultimately influencing our behavior.

How to Feel Gratitude

Write in a journal every day, listing three things (or more) you are grateful for or appreciate in your life. Do this on days when your vibration is positive, as well as on the days when your vibration is negative. Keep doing this every day until it becomes a habit and part of your routine. What you feel gratitude for can be something simple or something significant. It could be as simple as, "I am so grateful for the roof over my head," or something larger like, "Thank you for the amazing holiday I am on."

On the days when not much is happening in our lives, focusing on our gratitude for having heating, a comfortable bed, a loving family, and so on, can help us maintain a positive vibration. Using phrases such as 'I appreciate…', 'Thank you so much', 'I am truly grateful', or 'It was amazing' makes the gratitude more powerful and aligns you with a positive attitude. Feel the gratitude in your body; close your eyes and focus on what you are grateful for. When you are out walking, take note of what you appreciate around you and express to others how wonderful these things are. Look for the positive aspects to shift your focus away from what you perceive as negative."

When you wish to visualise your goals and what you want in the future, you can also write down how grateful you are to have achieved this goal, picturing yourself and describing how it is in the future, as if it is happening now. Again, close your eyes, visualise it and feel it in your body.

This attitude of gratitude helps you align yourself with your goals while also appreciating your journey along the way.

'Appreciation in advance brings everything you want to you.' - Abraham-Hicks

Give it a try; start a journal today. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
